"Preventive maintenance."

April 30, 2008 by Mike Strawbridge

I have been studying natural healing methods and alternative treatments for common illnesses for over twenty years.

While natural cures and natural treatments are great, I have found that by far the best way to deal with illness and disease is not to get them in the first place.

A good preventive maintenance program is needed to maintain a healthy and vital body.

Your body need certain building blocks with which to work to create the various types of cells, tissues, structures and enzymes that make up the human body.

The most basic ingredient is water.  Water makes up the largest portion of the body by weight.  Water plays an important role in all the chemical reactions that control our bodies.  From nerve impulses to the transfer of nutrients or the removal of wastes, water is the solvent that makes it all happen.

A sufficient intake of clean pure water is vital to the good health of the body. While a healthy body can deal with a lot of toxins in water, continued stress on the filters in the body from impure water will eventually lead to a breakdown in the bodies purification process.  This breakdown leads to illness and disease.

The body also needs a good supply of vital minerals like zinc, magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, phosphorous and others.  These minerals make up the solid structures as well as the various chemicals that control the chemical reactions that make the body work.

These minerals normally come from food we eat.  However, in a modern highly refined processed food diet, these vital minerals can be lacking in some cases but also may be out of balance.

Also, while the body makes its own enzymes and proteins, there are many complex chemicals that can be obtained from food or food supplements.

A good diet plan will address all these issues.  For areas where the diet may be lacking, natural supplements can be added to fill in the gaps.

To complete the preventive maintenance program, proper exercise and relaxation actives need to be added.  Additionally, there must be a system to balance the energy systems in the body.

The shape of the the body is created by the thoughts of the mind so all parts need to be in balance to maintain proper function.
